How the kiosk is going to sell coffee

So now that I'm arrived to this point I can try to think again on how I'm going to sell my products
I have the passage where you can pass through and take what you want and sit where you want depending on your free time spendable to have a break. So relax area where normal tables are or bar table.

I have also changed the position of the kiosk.
So now the sliding out volume faces the fountain and people sitting there can see other people passing through the square and appreciate the fountain as well.

For what concernes the tables outside, I decided to put them on the other side, obtaining so the "more protected" area that I wanted, also if it is still a passage way.
But in this way I can also sell my products as a "take out" option!

Just the same height: a place where people can pass through

After meeting my lecturers they made me notice that it was better to come back to my previous idea of having a crossing roofs because it's possible, I just have to make more research about it.

And as you can see in this sketch, I was having some problems even with the "different heights solution".
So trying and trying again and thinking I realized that it was so easy!

As I reported in this sketch below, I just need something between the two roofs that can patch the gap. This part should be unmovable and just attached to the "bigger volume". In this way I obtain modular facades that I wanted and still take advantage of these.

Different heights to make ceilings cross

Thinking to a ceiling that can be crossed with another one seems to be a real big problem for me! Because I want to cover the passage in some way and make the smaller volume slide as well. How can I do this? Looking back to this project I was thinking to divide the roof in modules and find some way to make them cross.

As you can see from my sketches I was trying to find movement in the roof as well. But this make everything much more complicated, since it's not a statuesque architecture and it has to be transportabled as well so it should be as more simple as possible.

Talking with Victoria, during the Design Communication seminar, she helped me a lot reaching an easier solution for my kiosk. No crossing beams but different heights! Of course I loose the movement that I wanted but this solution can make my life easier!

So the result is having a glass between these two roofs that slides with them. In this way I don't have problems of having parts not covered and holes created by this movement.
To test this idea I made a very simple model.

Obviously I have still to think about how I'm going to close the passage if it's cold or it's raining.

But I have obtained the same effect of the orange sketch!

How to cover the kiosk

Ok I decided that I want two volumes. One of these is able to slide into and outside the other one. But how to cover and how to make the smaller volume wedge in the other one?

This is a project by Dubbeldam Architecture+Design. The office is divided in modules and this allows to have a rhythm and a layout very clear and intercheamble depending on needs of the client.

I could try to use a scheme similar to this one to make the small volume wedge in the other one.

I could also decide to use this kind of rhythm also inside the kiosk, as it happens in the Eco Fast Restaurant by Joanna Pszczółka & Łukasz Brandys. To create a light play? May be?

Also the interiors of  MUCA’, a music and cultural centre in Algueña by the studio Cor & Partners could help me to design the interiors.

Other examples of rhythm in the La Bohème bar by AVA Architects, Porto.

This is the Puntos de Informaciòn Ruristica de Bogotà by Juan Melo & Camilo Delgadillo. The position of the table with the large window is very similar to what I would like to create. And also this effect of a volume that wraps onother, all could be marked be different colours in my project.

Best solution

Analysing all the solutions I think that the best solution could be having this:
A volume sliding inside the other one, like I have seen in this project.

But, keeping in mind that I want a trasparent and porous passage, I think I'm going to divide this volume in two parts: one for the passage and the other one for the bar table, where people can sit and see other people passing..

So drawing the plan I noticed that I have like three areas: one for the passage where people pass and can sit for a fast coffee/cappuccino with croissant and the other one where the kitchen is with normal tables where you can sit and have your breakfast serenely. The third one, instead could be an external area where you can sit in sunny days and that is more protected due to the near plants that seem hugging this space.

The only problem is that, in this way, people sitting inside on the bar table look at people sitting outside and viceversa. It is not a good thing and I really don't like this situation but if I put this tables on the other side I loose the protected area idea. How can I do?

Ideas to represent projects

The submission for the kiosk is getting close and I need to find some examples of architecture presentations.
I'm still thinking about how to represent my kiosk. In my board should be something that explains what the kiosk sells and how it is related to Nottingham. There should be a general plan to show how I decided to put my kiosk where it it, then plans, elevations, sections, 3D and interiors views and references.
Here there are some presentation boards that I found online.

I really love how the model has been integrated in the presentation board.

I would like to do renders like this!

A perfect integration between 3D model and elevations with also a section to describe the project.

Well, I never thought to do something like this. It's very impressive.

Thinking to different solutions

Here just my drawings about how I want create the passage:

A wall sliding out, creating a passage without ceiling

The same thing but with a very complicated closing system

What about a ceiling connected to the wall?

And if this passage would be closed but trasparent?
